Sun, Pool, Cocktails, and Air Conditioning

The title of this post pretty much sums up what was most important to me on my recent holiday to Egypt. My boyfriend Matt and I stayed at a HUGE hotel complex in Sharm El Sheikh, and as expected it was absolutely gorgeous. and ridiculously hot.

Weather like this…

… unfortunately meant that our air conditioned room quickly became a cool haven at numerous points during the day, which only slightly cut into our tanning time. Okay, I could barely lie in the sun for more than 10 minutes at a time. But that was where the four pools came in. I’ll spare you from any pool pics because they’re all me in a bikini, which no one wants to see!

We did, however, go snorkelling, because the sea was shallow for about half a mile out, which meant loads of colourful fish and mini reefs. And of course the water was the temperature of bath water…

And there was a jetty which went all the way out to sea, which was amazing! Unfortunately, it hadn’t been finished at the very end, which meant that technically we weren’t allowed on it. But the giant metal gate was fairly easy to climb round, and the security guard posted to make sure no one went on the jetty didn’t seem to mind either!

When we weren’t in the pool or sunbathing, we were getting ready to go out, and drinking cocktails. Lots and lots of cocktails. We even found a new favourite, a ‘Knock Out’, which often lived up to it’s name after a good night out.

Finally, of course, it was an all-inclusive holiday, so we made very good use of all of the food on offer. We were allowed some nights at the a la carte restaurants, and the second one we went to was hands down the nicest. We were sat outside, in a quiet part of the hotel, and had a 5 course meal brought out to us. It was a gorgeous evening!

I honestly think that this was one of the most relaxing holidays I’ve ever been on, which has been a blessing at the moment, after the end of term at uni and sorting the summer out. A brilliant hotel in a gorgeous setting, with tropical weather and the perfect person to go on holiday with. What more could you ask for?
