REVIEW: Smashbox Halo To Go Hydrating Perfecting Powder

This is just going to be a short little post, because in all honesty I don’t really know what to write in a make up review!

So this is the Smashbox Hydrating Perfecting Powder. It’s called ‘To Go’ because I got it in a little gift set along with a foundation, primer, and concealer, and they’re all smaller sizes (bigger than sample size but clearly smaller than the real thing). I have yet to try out the other products, because I don’t tend to wear a full face of foundation. I tried this powder out yesterday, because after putting on a bit of under-eye BB cream, I needed something to even out my skin a bit. I tried this, and it really worked! I applied it with a precision brush, which I know I probably shouldn’t have, but it actually worked for seeing where I needed it most and applying it to my nose and just under my eyebrows. It gives quite a thin coverage, but you could definitely build this up for better coverage. This is a tiny bit dark for my skin, but once I’d applied it all over my face, it really seemed to blend in well, and you could barely tell that it was there.

This powder is absolutely brilliant for a step between creams/foundation/concealer and popping some bronzer or blusher on top. It completely evened out my skin tone, and wasn’t thick or flaky, and it stayed on really well considering I hadn’t put a primer or foundation on underneath. It is a little bit shimmery, and as you can see below, it’s really messy – I don’t know if there’s something wrong with the packaging (or if I’m doing something wrong!), but I’ve managed to get this everywhere! Overall though, an absolutely brilliant product, perfect for day-to-day and going out, I’ll definitely be incorporating this into my make up routine (although not too much because the full size one is reeeaally expensive!).
