[THROWBACK] New-ish Luxury Makeup

Categories Beauty, Review

This is a major throwback to the summer, but I wanted to talk about a couple of high-end makeup picks I’ve been loving over the past few months!

Marc Jacobs Beauty is a relatively new discovery for me. This bronzer was part of the summer collection, and I just fell in love with the packaging. The product itself had great reviews too, so I thought I’d give it a go. Whilst I was there, I of course had to pick up the Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter. This is just too pretty!

The bronzer is truly my ideal bronzer, offering a bit of sculpt and a bit of warmth, it doesn’t make me orange, and it’s not *too* pigmented (so I don’t end up looking too stripy!). The packaging is indeed gorgeous, and this whole product is simply a luxury – of course I didn’t need it, but I’ve really enjoyed having this in my collection.

The gel highlighter is INSANELY pigmented. It’s very shimmery and very obvious. I had planned to use this as a glowy base for underneath foundation, but unless you’re into full coverage foundations, this is a bit too OTT. It’s an amazing liquid highlighter, and I really enjoy putting it on before foundation, but only in places where I would naturally highlight (tops of cheekbones, tip of nose). It gives a subtle glow without being too obvious, and really makes any powder highlighter pop when brushed over the top.

Finally, I managed to pick up the Nars Bord de Plage bronzing and highlighting palette from ASOS, with student discount and a £5 voucher (I was very pleased with myself…). Another luxury splurge, this nevertheless comes with a really decent amount of product, including 4 highlighters and 2 bronzers. Again, a feature of this palette is that the product isn’t too pigmented, making it super easy to use. The tones are great, and only one of the highlighters is a tad too bronzey for my skintone. I’ll be honest, I didn’t reach for this much straight away, as whilst I still had a tan I was making the most of super glowy bronzers and golden highlights. However, since then I’ve really been reaching for this, and the only criticism I have is that I’ve already ruined the design on most of the pans!

Although I probably spend way too much money on high-end makeup, these are three products that I’m glad I picked up. Definitely check them out if you’re a bronzer or highlighter lover as I am!
