As always, when I visit the US, I can’t seem to avoid Sephora! I was relatively restrained this time around – mainly because I spent all my money at the outlets and on books, but still. Here’s a quick run-through of everything I picked up and what my thoughts are so far.
I’ll start off with the minis – some of these were from sets I picked up (I love Sephora for value sets!) and a couple are points rewards. The Drunk Elephant minis were all either points rewards, or from the birthday gift set. I’ve tried out a couple of the Drunk Elephant serums before (also in mini form) and they weren’t really for me, so I’m keen to try some of their other products. I also picked up a mini Tarte hydration kit, which includes the hydrating spray (already own and use, decent pre-makeup or no makeup spray), the Quench hydrating primer (I LOVE a hydrating primer), and a tiny sample size of the Drink of H2O moisturiser which I’m really enjoying using as a light moisturiser so far. The Bareminerals Dew Mist I’ve yet to try, but I do love setting sprays, and the two Tarte powders (mini blush in Prim and bronzer in Park Ave Princess) were in a set with the mascara (see below) and have the great quality blendability that I’ve come to expect from Tarte powders.
Next up, a couple of *slightly* splurge-y purchases! I was hoping to get my hands on the new Marc Jacobs highlighter, so I was pleased when I spotted the giant spotty pink packaging on display… The highlighter itself is huge, the same size as the bronzer I already own from the brand. It’s the first of these oversized highlighters which will actually suit my skintone, so I knew that it would be worth it. This shade in O!Mega Glaze is a bright almost-white, which is super reflective and blends into the skin smoothly.
I also got my hands on one of the new Fenty bronzers. This is honestly one of the first Fenty releases which has really appealed to me. Those products that I would usually have been interested in from them tend to be either a little bit out there (like the holographic highlighters) or not suited for my skin (such as the matte foundation). So when these bronzers were released, I knew I wanted to try one. I actually picked up the second-lightest shade after originally leaning towards the lightest shade – it’s slightly darker than my usual bronzer but looks so stunning and sunkissed!
I repurchased one of my favourite mascaras, the Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara, in this jazzy glitter packaging. I also picked up a Morphe eye blending brush (you can never have too many!) and this stunning bronzer brush from Fenty Beauty – I just had to have it to go with the bronzer, obviously…
I also popped into Ulta and purchased a few items, so I’ll include them here. This Juvia’s Place eyeshadow palette is stunning, and the pans are HUGE. It’s just my kind of neutral palette with a great variety of options. For my wild, untameable hair, I picked out two products from Not Your Mother’s, as I already have their Knotty to Nice Conditioning Detangler and Smooth Moves Frizz Control Hair Cream. I’d use pretty much anything from them at this point!
I hope you enjoyed this little tour through my recent purchases. You might have noticed that there are a couple of items in the top picture I haven’t mentioned – the Bobbi Brown eyeshadow is in the shade Camel which I found for about $8 at TJ Maxx, and a mini pack of makeup remover wipes from Sephora, which I got roped into buying at the till, as always! I think I’m all set for makeup and skincare for the foreseeable future, so until my next trip to America!
