You may have guessed by now that I’m a bit of a book obsessive! I go through phases of reading constantly and barely reading at all, but I always come back to my love of books. Whilst on holiday in Santorini, we did a bit of a road trip one day around all the main cities (towns?) on the island. In Oia, unarguably the most gorgeous and pristine place on the island, we accidentally stumbled across the Atlantis bookshop. I had absolutely no idea it…Continue Reading “Atlantis Books”

In July, we spent a few days in Edinburgh, meeting up with family and friends. I was SO keen to go as I’ve never been before, and despite the fairly miserable weather, it was a fantastic trip and I’m fully in love with the city already! It actually reminds me a lot of Oxford – the old buildings, often cobbled streets, and more laidback and less busy atmosphere in comparison to other cities. Of course, it does have a much better castle than Oxford, and…Continue Reading “This is… Edinburgh”

I’m writing this on the plane home, *sob*, heading back to the UK after a week in sunny Santorini. It’s a truly beautiful island, and there’s so much to see and do, so just a few quick facts before I get into it! We went on a package holiday with Thomson, which has its pros and cons. Transfers and everything sorted, but little say over timings etc. I think for our first time visiting Santorini, it was a good idea. Were we to go again,…Continue Reading “This is… Santorini, Greece”

Onto the second part of our trip across the pond! We flew on to Austin, the capital city of Texas, from Newark on the 7th. It’s a really short flight, and something I love is that the time on your ticket is almost always longer than the actual time of the flight, meaning that it’s way shorter than expected! I’ve been to Austin many many times in the past, as my grandma has been living there since I was eight. It’s genuinely one of my…Continue Reading “This is… Austin, TX”

Just some FYIs before I really get in to this post. Firstly, I have been to New York before, with my mum and grandma. We did an absolute ton of touristy things, and were just walking round for like 12 hours a day doing sightseeing, barely stopping to shop or eat or anything (so unlike me, I know). It was an amazing induction into New York’s sights and specialities, but this time, my boyfriend Matt and I wanted to do it differently, so that’s why…Continue Reading “This is… New York City”

It’s about time I got round to writing this! It’s currently a fortnight after we got back from Barcelona, and I think it’s best that I get this all down before I start forgetting things. Matt and I traveled to Barcelona from Heathrow for a week at the end of April, and despite getting sunburnt on the second day (oops!)we had a really fantastic time! Just FYI though, this was our third visit to Barcelona in four years, so we were far more interested in…Continue Reading “This is… Barcelona”

I thought it was about time that I wrote this post, as it has now unbelievably been a month since we travelled to Bled in January. I can’t believe the time has gone so quickly! These ‘This is…’ posts are going to be designed to cover both an overview of my trip, plus a travel guide-type element for any of you thinking about or planning on visiting. Over the next couple of months – before I jet off to Barcelona – I’m hoping to get…Continue Reading “This is… Bled”

Since it was my birthday last weekend, as you might imagine I’ve had quite a few favourites this week! Mostly birthday presents of course. I had a fantastic weekend away in Brighton, and I’ve spent this past weekend with visiting family, which was great fun. Here’s my favourites for the past week or two, and a Happy belated Valentine’s Day to you all! 1. Brighton I absolutely love Brighton. I’ve now been 3 times since last year, and despite never going when the weather’s been…Continue Reading “Five Favourites: 15th February 2016”

Skiing. Anyone who’s been raves about it, and people who haven’t appear generally indifferent to it. Whether the latter comes through jealousy or inability to go skiing, or whether it is simply an indifference towards the activity, depends on the person. Before going skiing, I can safely say I was indifferent to it. In fact, I was probably more actively against going, convinced I wouldn’t be any good at it and that it was far too expensive. As it turns out, both those things were…Continue Reading “A Beginner’s Guide to Skiing (sort of)”

Hello again! I can only apologise for my long absence from this blog, but I really haven’t had the inspiration needed for writing over the Christmas period. To be honest, I was being quite the lazy chocolate-eating sofa-wallower (if you know what I mean), and was quite enjoying not having to do anything whilst I was off work. Since my last post, an awful lot has been going on. My grandparents came over for a whole week from America in the run up to Christmas,…Continue Reading “New Year Catch Up”
