Last Wednesday, I headed back into Oxford after work to attend a talk by Laura Bates, founder of the Everyday Sexism project, successful author, and possibly one of the most articulate people I have ever heard speak in public. The talk was held in the Sheldonian Theatre – always lovely – and was focussed around Bates’ new book, Misogynation. In comparison to the personal accounts of Everyday Sexism, and the manual-style Girl Up, Misogynation is more of an exploration of the myriad forms sexism which,…Continue Reading “Laura Bates – Misogynation”

This arrived in the post earlier this week, and I can confirm that it is, of course, gorgeous. The packaging is exactly the same as Modern Renaissance and Subculture, just in a matte gold kind of shade. Not the prettiest colour, but as always with Anastasia its great quality. The eyeshadows themselves are really beautiful. Nowhere near as powdery as the Subculture, nor as colourful as the Modern Renaissance, there are a ton of soft browns, crease shades, and deeper defining browns. There are a…Continue Reading “[REVIEW] Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Palette”

This is how I feel about the new ABH palette: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ If you were waiting for the big reveal on what my opinion was at the end, I’ve kind of ruined the surprise. Sorry not sorry! This palette is so pretty, so pigmented, and just generally impressive that I might just leave this post here…   Okay maybe not, because I really want to tell you guys about this palette! I’ve been wanting to get my hands on an ABH palette for ages, but I’ve always…Continue Reading “[REVIEW] Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette”

Over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, I spontaneously decided to completely redecorate my room. Just to put that in perspective, I’ve had the same wallpaper in my room, and really done nothing decorative to my room, since I was about 8. Yup. Who knew that I’d hate that purple and pink starry wallpaper after a year or two?! Anyway, I made the decision the weekend before, cleared out my room each evening after work in the week, and kicked everything off on Good Friday. I…Continue Reading “New Room Tour”

Happy Saturday everyone! I hope you’re all having great weekends. Mine is relaxing more than anything else, which suits me just fine! Toady’s favourites were a tad difficult to pull together, as I’ve not really been discovering much new lately, but here’s what I’ve managed to scrape together for you guys 🙂 1.Comfy & chunky jumpers It’s that time of year again when it’s cold enough to be wearing thick, woolly jumpers, which is awesome! Although I love the sun, there’s nothing better than just…Continue Reading “Five Favourites: 17th October 2015”

I’ve been going on about it for a couple of weeks now, so I thought it was about time to do a review post. I know everyone and their mum has done one of these, but I really wanted to do one too. Plus I need more post inspiration and didn’t know what else to write about :’) I’m not going to go into tons of detail, but I’ve got some swatches and opinions on the shadows, and a couple of ideas for eye looks…Continue Reading “[REVIEW] Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette”

Earlier this week I was in Oxford, and couldn’t resist popping into Debenhams to check out the make up counters. I often overlook Debenhams when looking to buy beauty, and they actually have a lot of great brands, including some which can be difficult to get hold of. Despite also wanting to pick up the Bare Minerals Bare Skin foundation (which, by the way, comes in the tiniest bottle ever), I couldn’t resist picking up a couple of things from Urban Decay, one of which…Continue Reading “New In Beauty”

In my last post, I mentioned that there was a massive shopping mall really near to our hotel in Bratislava. One of the shops which I was most interested in was called Pupa, which sells make up. It’s actually Italian and looks super similar to Kiko, so I don’t know how similar they are, but it was a great store with plenty of options. The first thing that caught my eye were their cream eyeshadows, which come in these cute little pots. I picked up this…Continue Reading “Pupa Cosmetics Haul (from Bratislava!)”

Another US-related post (sorry!) for you today. Although I didn’t really pick up any drugstore make up whilst I was in the US, I did pick up a few bits from Nyx in Ulta one day. In all honesty, there was so much more I wanted to try (and they had a buy one get one half price offer on), but at the time I was pretty intent on getting more of the high-end products I had my eye on. Plus, I’m pretty certain Nyx…Continue Reading “Nyx Picks”

I popped into Superdrug yesterday and picked up a few things that I’ve been wanting to try out for a while, so I thought I’d share them here, and quickly explain why I’m so keen to try them all out! 1. COLAB Dry Shampoo in ‘RIO’, £3.49 I actually saw these on Zoella’s vlog, because she was invited to the launch party. They’ve been developed by a model called Ruth Crilly, and apparently combine all of her hair and beauty knowledge from her 10 years…Continue Reading “The 7 New Beauty Buys I’m Most Looking Forward To Trying Out”
