I’ve been meaning to do this post for about 2 weeks now, so I thought it was time to get it done and dusted. I’ve picked up a few bits and pieces from Boots over the last few weeks, and I thought I’d just pop them all together in this post. I’ve been trying out most of them so it’s a bit of a mini-review mixed in with a haul post, hope you enjoy!
The first thing I picked up, and what I actually went into Boots initially for, was the Bourjois Healthy Mix serum gel foundation (…?). I hope I got that right! I’ve been considering getting this for some time now, as I don’t tend to wear foundation, just light bases like tinted moisturisers. But this is so light that it doesn’t really feel like a foundation at all, which works for me. I have the shade 02 Vanille, which I think is a great match for me as my tan is fading and I’m getting paler by the day! This is quite a watery foundation, but extremely easy to blend. As I mentioned, it is really light coverage, but for a good skin day this is perfect for smoothing over redness and dark circles, creating an even skin tone, and yet still allowing skin to breathe. I’ve really enjoyed using this so far and would recommend it to anyone looking for a light, comfortable base.
I also picked up the Happy Light primer from Bourjois. It’s a funny baby pink colour, and again very watery, but I quite like it. It’s moisturising, so doesn’t dry out my skin as other base products can, and it seems to hold foundation really well. I like the buffer it creates between my skin and foundation, as I really feel like I need to put something on before I go straight in with foundation. Ideally I’d like to keep a good skincare routine, but unfortunately I just don’t have time in the morning, and there’s no chance of me getting up any earlier! This has prompted me to start looking at other primers, so I’m looking forward to trying out some similar products in the future.
I’ve heard the Maybelline BB cream hyped up quite a lot, and so I thought I’d give it a go. If you haven’t guessed, I’ve been trying to test out some new base products lately! Although this is in the shade Light, it comes out of the tube quite dark, but it suits my skin tone quite well. I don’t think this would work for very pale skin, but for mine it seems to blend in well. In a way quite similar to the Bourjois serum foundation, this provides light coverage, blends easily, and evens out skin tone. This actually probably has the tiniest bit more coverage, but I’d definitely say they were in the same coverage range. A bit more ‘dry’ than the Bourjois foundation, this is still surprisingly moisturising, and leaves a lovely satin finish, not too shiny, not too matte. Another impressive base!
Finally for base, I’ve recently picked up the L’Oreal True Match foundation, in the shade 2N Vanilla. This was an impulse purchase, but everyone seems to love the new formula so I thought I’d give it a go. It’s heavier coverage than any of the other bases I have, and that shows in the finished effect on the face, and the effect this has on my skin. Overall quite happy with this, but I’ll have to test it out a bit more and do a bit of a review sometime soon.
These two Maybelline Super Stay nail varnishes were a purchase prompted by YouTube (where else?!), as I’ve heard they’re actually pretty long lasting (unlike many polishes which claim to be long lasting…). The Boots I went to didn’t have many colour choices, but I did really love these two. A lot of the ones I’ve seen on other people have been light blues and mint colours, which I’ll be on the lookout for, but these are probably more appropriate for autumn and winter anyway. The colours are so cute, pink-toned but not too girly, and I think I’ll get a lot of wear out of these.
Finally, I grabbed this Rimmel Exaggerate eyeliner. I pretty much only ever use brown eyeliners on my waterline, and this one is a bit darker than most I already own. I thought it was a bit different, and I needed it to get the 3 for 2 offer, so a bargain really! I also have another shade of this, so I know that these eyeliners are great quality, last a long time on the waterline, and go on smoothly and don’t pull at the sensitive skin around the eye.
I hope you enjoyed this November drugstore haul, keep an eye out throughout December as I’ll probably end up having enough to do another!
