New Year Catch Up

Hello again! I can only apologise for my long absence from this blog, but I really haven’t had the inspiration needed for writing over the Christmas period. To be honest, I was being quite the lazy chocolate-eating sofa-wallower (if you know what I mean), and was quite enjoying not having to do anything whilst I was off work.

Since my last post, an awful lot has been going on. My grandparents came over for a whole week from America in the run up to Christmas, which was a lot of fun. They rented a house at the Cotswold Water Park, which is basically an amazing area with lots of beautiful scenery, with plenty of holiday homes around. The weekend before Christmas we visited for the day, but then I unfortunately had to go back to work Monday and Tuesday. Tuesday evening, we went straight over to the house, where we had a great time. The next day we ended up going to the Cotswold Wildlife Park, which, although I must have been about 50 times already, is always a nice walk on a sunny day.

Christmas Eve was a whirlwind as usual. Matt and I exchanged our presents for one another that morning, after which he told me that he’d booked for us to go skiing in January! We went over to my grandparents’ house to cook the meats and chop the vegetables for the next day. Back at home, we always have people round in the late afternoon, then have cheese and biscuits for dinner. Honestly, I don’t tend to do much in the way of going out on the night of Christmas Eve, but we do have plenty of drinks at home!

Christmas Day was fantastic, especially as my American grandparents joined us. I cooked Christmas dinner (!), which turned out surprisingly well, and we had all our little Christmas traditions which make it so special. The week after Christmas, as always, is a week of doing not a lot and generally over-relaxing, if that’s even possible. Matt and I went to Westfields on New Years Eve, which was the first time I’d ever been, and I have to say it was absolutely insane. In a good way. It has become my new temple, which I will make pilgrimages to. I joke, of course, but it was even better than I thought it would be, and so worth the drive. Possible haul TBC.

New Years Eve we had quite a quiet one, at Matt’s with some friends. Nothing too big, which luckily means no awful hangover the next day! Unfortunately, the 4th of January meant back to work, but only for a week. From the 9th to the 16th, we were off skiing! I’ve never been skiing before, and it was interesting to say the least, so I might do a couple of posts on that soon, rather than going into detail here. Although we had some rain at the beginning of the week, it soon cooled down and we had some great days on the slopes.

So that brings us just about up to date! Hope you enjoyed that little catch up, and I’ll be getting back to normal posts in the very near future.
