I’m not going to tell you how many times and how many different locations of Sephora/Ulta I went into throughout my two weeks in the US, but quite frankly it was a few too many! However, in comparison to previous years, I was very restrained and limited my purchases significantly. I know once you’ve read this post you’ll be like “significantly? really?!”, but personally I was very proud of myself… Do read on to view the damage to my bank account this time around!
I couldn’t resist picking up this limited edition blush set from Tarte, which also includes a bronzer and a highlighter. I’ve always been a big fan of the Taste blushes and own one of their single highlighters, so this was a no-brainer for me. And the packaging! It comes in this insane sparkly clutch which you can actually use (the powders pull out), but it’s just so pretty! Oh yeah and the actual product performs really well too…
I decided to get another Milani blush as I use Luminoso so much. They have a fantastic formula, are super easy to use, and contain just the right amount of shimmer to create that glowy, healthy look. This version in Berry Amore is slightly deeper than Luminoso, so looks great on more bronzed skin.
I also splashed out on a Marc Jacobs single eyeshadow. Yes, these are extortionately expensive. Yes, there’s more product in the pan than I could ever hope to use as an eyeshadow. But this colour, ‘Brav-o’, is something else. It’s the perfect slightly-shimmery bronze-gold and works just as well alone as well as alongside other shadows. Yes, it’s expensive, but it’s infinitely wearable too.
After my last pot of Ultra Repair Cream was ‘borrowed’ by my mum, I needed to pick up a replacement, and this tube will be a lot easier to travel with. It’s bigger than the sample size you can get and should last for ages.
I went a bit overboard with the L’Oreal purchases, although the Infallible Pro Glow foundation is a repurchase. This is a great medium coverage foundation which goes on flawlessly and blends with the skin beautifully. The Lumi Glotion and Glow Lock are both new to me, so I’m looking forward to seeing how well they perform.
One thing I always try to pick up in the US is a rollerball – they’re barely available in the UK and for far fewer brands. This fresh scent from Atelier Cologne is perfect for a pick me up and for travelling. There were quite a few more which I could have bought as well but, like I said, being good….
I picked up a couple of new brushes as well, the Real Techniques blush brush and a highlighting brush from Nyx, plus the mini eyeliner set from Urban Decay, which is a great way to try some more shades in their iconic 24/7 Glide On eye pencils. Overall, I feel as though I’ve got some great new products to try out, without spending *too* much money!
